The CAI promotes the knowledge of the mountain for its safe and conscious enjoyment.

Our section was founded in 1875. We organize excursions of various kinds, from the simple walk to the most demanding mountaineering level. Members can participate in the initiatives with the security of an experienced escort and the coverage of an insurance.

For 20 years our section CAI contributes with its qualified escorts to the realization of the Trekking Train (from March to December). It is an initiative implemented in collaboration with the Province of Bologna and Trenitalia, in order to discover our Apennines using public transport.

For those who want to improve their practice, courses are held by qualified instructors from our mountaineering and hiking schools.

The section of Bologna is headed by the subsection Alta Val Brasimone with headquarters in Castiglione dei Pepoli. There are also three territorial groups: CAI West, CAI East, Middle Rhine.

The Bologna section has more than 2,600 members and is led by a Board of Directors elected by the Members with a President, a Vice-President, a Secretary and a Treasurer.
